The 1/4 in. heavy-duty thickness provides a larger abrasive mass than the standard 1/8 in. grinding wheel for longer wheel life in the most demanding grinding applications — sustained heavy weld bead removal, large bevel grinding on thick plate, and aggressive stock removal where the thinner wheel would wear too quickly for economical production grinding. Aluminum oxide abrasive provides the cutting aggressiveness and controlled wear rate appropriate for ferrous metal grinding applications where maintaining a fresh, sharp abrasive surface throughout the grinding cycle produces consistent material removal rate.
